Jay’s photo grabbed us immediately. It perfectly captures the spirit of this month’s theme of FREEDOM! Some of the most eye catching elements were the movement of the flight of the subject, the use of silhouette against the puffy white clouds and the brilliant blue sky, and the low angle camera position which elevated the sense of height of the subject. Jay also demonstrates great skill in composition, use of foreground/background and the kinetic sense to catch the movement so well. A beautiful representation of freedom.

Art Program Launches
Hoye Wayelo is on! What a beautiful way to start the program! Students from all districts arrived and met with teachers and staff from all over the rez and all over the country! We kicked it all off with an opening circle, a beautiful meal and then dove right into dance, film, visual art and writing classes. These students are ready to make some art – it is going to be a busy two weeks!

Sacred Hoop 2016!!
The Sacred Hoop 500 Mile Prayer Run was a great success this year! Over 100 runners, 500 miles, and countless prayers! We even had an extra rest day at Devil’s Tower! It is such a beautiful and empowering experience for the youth and for all of the adults who come to support. We will double down on fundraising efforts next year so even more families can participate!
Thank You Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians!
Thank you Agua Caliente for your generous grant and for sponsoring the Hoye Wayelo Summer Arts Program! Thank you for being such good care-takers of the community and of Indian Country! Wopila!!
